The operation of the Global Red Meat Standard is managed on a day-to-day basis by the GRMS Secre-tariat with input from the Technical Working Group and the Stakeholder Group. The GRMS Secretariat is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the GRMS. This includes:

  • Chairing the Technical Working Group 
  • Secretary for the GRMS Governance Board 
  • Coordinating the annual review of the Standard and feedback from stakeholders 
  • Producing interpretations and clarifications of the Standard 
  • Answering all enquiries regarding the Standard 
  • Liaising with Certification Bodies, manufacturers, retailers and others using the Standard 
  • Liaising with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) 
  • Attending and speaking at conferences and meetings to promote the Standard 
  • Checking compliance to the Standard to maintain the Standard's integrity 
  • Checking and registration of Certification Bodies and their auditors and maintenance of these records 
  • Coordinating the growth of the Standard in new markets.
